Volunteer Advocate Training

Event Details

This event finished on 28 June 2023

Do you want to truly make a difference in the life of a child experiencing foster care? You can join our roster of over 60 Volunteer Advocates who currently service children in our community who have been removed from their homes due to safety concerns.

Volunteer Advocates are assigned only one case at a time and visit children at least once a month to build a rapport and determine best interest. CASA Volunteers provide educational, emotional, psychological, physical and developmental advocacy for these children to ensure that the needs of the children are being addressed and ultimately provide their recommendation to the Court as to the best permanent outcome for children in foster care. Working alongside attorneys and caseworkers, our Volunteer Advocates join the care team to secure the forever permanent home for children in foster care, whether it is back with parents who have alleviated safety concerns, with relatives, or through third-party adoptions.

Our next Volunteer Advocate Training will be held on June 5, June 12, June 19, June 26 and June 28 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the CASA office in Waxahachie. Meals will be provided. An additional 14 hours of online learning and two hours of local courtroom observation are also required. Meals will be provided each day of training. Trainees must complete an online application at https://casaofelliscounty.org/volunteer/forms/, complete a background check, and participate in an in-person interview prior to the first training session.

YOU can truly be a VOICE for a child in the foster care system.
